In his popular article, Sebastiaan Pompe (Program Manager of National Legal Reform Program) which was published by the thejakartapost.com indicated that the Indonesian Supreme Court had succeeded in publishing verdicts.

He said that the published verdicts are more than all verdicts published by the Supreme Court of the US, the Netherlands and Australia put together over past ten years. He also stated that it was more than decisions published by the US Supreme Court over the past hundred years.

It is an amazing fact, isn’t it?

When Sebastiaan Pompe wrote his article, the number of published verdicts was 22,437. Now, we can see that the number significantly increases with 26,177.

If we visit http://putusan.mahkamahagung.go.id/pengadilan we will find that the High Religious Courts are the top in publishing theirs verdicts in comparison with other courts. The High Religious Court (HRC) of Surabaya publishes 1,599, HRC of Bandung with 735, HRC of Samarinda with 181, HRC of Semarang with 174 and HRC of Banjarmasin with 153.

According to Rachmadi Suhamka, SH (the Registrar of HRC of Surabaya), the court and its 37 lower courts have succeeded in publishing 35,420 verdicts until November 25, 2011.

In the other occasion, the Coordinator of Data and Information in the Registry of the Supreme Court, Asep Nursobah stated that the publication has double purpose. It does not only support the transparency but it also comply the Circular Letter of the Supreme Court No. 14/2010 on Electronic Document for File Completeness of Cassation and Judicial Review.
